He lived in England for seven years where he had a private acupuncture clinic and was a Clinical Research Fellow at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. In order to provide more effective treatments to his clients, Dr. Mai also completed a Physiotherapy Course in England. Now he practises Eastern medicine incorporating Western therapeutic techniques. In 1991 Dr. Zhu moved to England with her husband where they set up an acupuncture and TCM clinic. Now she practices acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in our Port Coquitlam Office.

Both Dr. Mai and Dr. Zhu have been through high-standard professional medical training, and have more than 20 years of clinical experience
in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. They apply acupuncture, tuina and herbal formulae for internal and/or external uses, and also
integrate Chinese massage with Qi, or energy. They use typical Chinese Medical ways to remove the blockage of body channels, adjust whole
body balance, improve blood circulation, and relieve pain and stress. Many patients received such treatments, especially those with problems
difficult to be treated successfully by other healing approaches, found results that they did not think were possible. The practice are
recognized by Government of Canada Veterans Affairs, Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) and
most Extended Health Plans.
Besides clinical practise, Dr. Mai and Dr. Zhu are also the instructors of Western Canadian Institute of TCM Practitioners. They give seminars in the community from time to time. Since February 2003, Dr. Mai has been chosen to speak weekly in the Program of Health, on the Radio station of AM1470. They have also been featured on television news. The purpose of these activities is to educate the public on how to prevent diseases and maintain health.
